Think Gray Psychotherapy

"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate" - Carl Jung -

Think Gray Psychotherapy is run by Sophie Gray, who focuses on helping people of all ages overcome mental health challenges.

(Excuse me as I change from third to first person - I can't stand the awkwardness of writing about myself as "she"!)

I aim to help people flourish. My philosophy of successful psychotherapy centers around resilience, not removal of problems. Life throws curveballs all the time, and we work to create the conditions that empower you to deal with them.

I work predominantly from a psychodynamic and existential framework within the Conversational Model. I focus on building a therapeutic relationship within which clients develop a sense of relational safety, the ability to confront and process life's traumas into their narrative of self, cease to fear their ‘negative' emotions, and feel capable of coping with life.

We will not work uni-directionally; we move backward to understand (not judge) the past, stay in the present to process emotions and experiences, and look to the future to grow and build the life you dream of.

I understand how challenging it can be to show up for yourself when life is still happening around you! However, psychotherapeutic work does not need to be all-consuming. I will work with you, where you are at.

Everyone has the power to become stronger than their difficulties to live a more meaningful life - and we certainly don’t have to do it alone!

"...but everything will become still worse unless each of us does his best" - Viktor Frankl -

Notebook

For me Sophie took the time to make me understand that despite my inconvenient emotions and tendency to be anxious, I'm not in any way defective. Instead, my body's habits are there to protect me and if I am mindful of them, I can continue to work to use them to my advantage.
I'm so grateful for this powerful insight.
